wArdrobe & STOOL
privat commission
welded steel, Guyana teak
2017
My parents commissioned me to build a wardrobe for them. They recently bought a beautiful Finnish Sideboard from teak for the hallway, so I saw a necessity to match that material somehow. Since I don’t find it justifiable to build something from tropical wood, I felt an even bigger necessity to find an alternative to teak. So, I found Guyana Teak, which is not teak at all but looks very similar and is not as unethical as the tropical wood. It is very durable and usually used outdoors. Because I wanted to use every bit of the Guyana Teak, I also built a stool to sit and tie the laces.
