Revisiting the Fiberboard Series went hand in hand with an ongoing urge to elevate one of the furniture industry’s most commonly used materials: chipboard. Mostly hidden behind functional layers of white melamine, this versatile composite material has already lived many lives. The Fiberboard Coffee Table marks the starting point of a new series, highlighting the desirable qualities of this democratic material. An iron acetate treatment and a matte boat lacquer clear coat form the basis of an expressive surface finish that stands out in direct light. As the viewing angle shifts, the surface recedes into the background, revealing a subtle, minimalist design. This shifting appearance can be understood as a metaphor for changing perspectives on material perception.
